The Lion was the first print developed in this collection, inspired by the artist's youngest son Ari, named after his great-grandfather Aryeh. Throughout her pregnancy, she found herself drawn to lions, collecting small lion elements for the nursery and even thrifting a 1950s Hanukkiah featuring the Jerusalem lions from Shuk HaPishpishim in Yafo. Because lions are such formidable creatures, this one was designed to feel regal yet peaceful. With a sleepy expression and gently wagging tail, he became an affable little companion to watch over the nursery. A warm, sandy neutral palette reflects the nursery's natural, textural feel, with touches of orange in the mane and dusty turquoise lettering for playful contrast. The hand-lettered Hebrew typography is rendered in a wavy, bubbly 70s-inspired style, complete with nekudot to support early Hebrew learning.
