Judith Nusimovici

Meet

In 2011, Judith Nusimovici founded L’Atelier as a fine furniture making and restoration studio, rooted in the French tradition of craftsmanship and her deep respect for natural materials. After making aliyah in 2017, she established herself in Israel as a dedicated artisan, bringing her French training and love of wood into a new cultural landscape.

Over time, her strong commitment to sustainability led her to repurpose every offcut, transforming remnants of her furniture projects into one-of-a-kind objects guided by the wood’s unique grain, color, and character. Because each piece begins with what remains from her furniture work, no two creations are ever exactly the same.

Since October 7, her work has taken on new meaning. Judith began crafting Judaica as a way to connect with her people worldwide and transform grief into something purposeful. Lighting candles, carving wood, and shaping ritual objects became acts of resilience, faith, and defiance. As she explains, “It’s a celebration of light in the darkest days of the year, a reminder of resilience, hope, and miracles.”

Today, L’Atelier’s collections balance artistry and sustainability, blending French technique with Israeli spirit. For Judith, each creation is not only a reflection of aesthetic elegance but also an embodiment of purpose—an object that fulfills its role beautifully, while carrying within it a story of resilience and light.

From her Afula workshop, French-born artist Judith Nusimovici of L’Atelier transforms wood into timeless home décor and Judaica, honoring sustainability, tradition, and resilience.

“Creating is what keeps me grounded. Even in chaos, carving and shaping wood reconnects me to resilience, faith, and beauty.”
