Israeli ceramics — designs from the soul!

Meet Orna Barel, a ceramicist who turned her hobby into a profession in 2014, when she decided that she wanted to more things in life that bring her joy. Orna’s work combines creativity and love, with many of her pieces connecting to Judaism. She uses many elements in her work that fuse together Jewish blessings with love and spirituality. One of the most special things she ever created are a set of bird Shabbat candlestick holders for a happy and harmonious marriage. When the candles are lit, the shadows of the birds are reflected on the wall.

“Ever since I can remember, I have always had two great loves: making art and nature," Orna shared.

Orna works out of her home in Raanana, and sells her creations at the biweekly craft fair on Nachalat Binyamin Street, in Tel Aviv.

After October 7, less people have visited her stand at the fair, and Orna's become an expert in shipping her creations around the world. All her deliveries are packed with love and care, and she's found deep meaning in connecting with the community abroad, and is forever grateful for their support.

“For me, Hanukkah is the reminder that light always wins,” said Orna. We hope that anyone receiving her creations will feel this light, and the love that Orna puts into each of her pieces.
