Meet
Lia is a graduate of Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, she launched Saltware Design in 2021, drawing inspiration from Japanese art philosophy, the natural world, and childhood memories—including her grandmother’s tradition of sewing salt into small amulets for protection.
grandmother’s tradition of sewing salt into small amulets for protection.
Salt is at the heart of Lia’s work. Using a patent-protected process, she crafts intricate candlesticks, menorahs, and home décor from 100% Israeli salt, enriched with earth powders and mixed metals. Each piece is a testament to resilience, heritage, and the beauty found in nature.
But resilience isn’t just in her art—it’s in her story. Lia has persevered through the pandemic, the loss of her husband, and now, war. “After October 7, I was absolutely depressed,” she said. The lack of tourism has drastically impacted her sales, and even the local market is struggling. “People don’t have the time, money, or desire to shop.”
Still, Lia continues to create, limiting her news and social media intake to stay focused on her craft. Each Saltware piece is more than just décor—it carries history, emotion, and a connection to the land.
