Salome Maarek
Meet
Born in Paris and trained at both the École Duperré and the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem, Salomé Maarek now lives and works in Jerusalem, where she creates for her brand, Salomé Stones. Drawing on a legacy of craftsmanship inherited from her grandfather, she developed a groundbreaking technique that fuses raw minerals sourced from Israel directly into precious jewelry.
Hanukkah holds special significance for Salomé, as she was born during the holiday. Its themes of light, resilience, and miracles deeply inform both her life and her artistic work. Through Salomé Stones, she uncovers the hidden light within the earth transforming seemingly ordinary rocks into radiant, meaningful jewels.
Her creations are rooted in extensive research and collaboration with the Geological Survey of Israel, blending artistry with geological knowledge. Each piece carries not only the colors, textures, and energy of the land, but also a spiritual dimension, reflecting the sacred history and resilience of Israel.
Living through the war has challenged daily life and creative rhythm, yet Salomé finds purpose and grounding in her work. Each stone she transforms becomes a testament to hope, gratitude, and the enduring beauty of the land. Salomé’s jewelry is a reminder that even in difficult times, creativity, light, and connection persist.
From her Jerusalem studio, Paris-born designer Salomé Maarek transforms raw Israeli minerals into luminous, one-of-a-kind jewelry that celebrates light, resilience, and the hidden beauty of the land.
“Creating allows me to uncover light in the earth, in the land, and in life itself. Even in uncertainty, the act of making connects me to hope and meaning.”
