Wind chimes, vanes, and unique woodwork made in north Israel.

Meet artist Ofer Rubin, who founded “Jerusalem Bells” in 1988. Born and raised in Bat Yam, Ofer spent most of his days at the beach as a professional surfer, or working as a set designer for cinemas and theatres in Tel Aviv, before an unfortunate cervical spine injury forced him to stop surfing.

Ofer moved to Jerusalem to help restore the Caron Theater, but continued to love and long for the sea. So he created a small wind chime for the window of his room in order to maintain a continuous connection with the sea and the waves. The first bell was born.

Now, Ofer runs his business from a workshop on the grounds of his home in Rosh Pina, in north Israel. Everything is handcrafted with love by Ofer and his team — from intricate mobiles to a range of wind chimes carved from mahogany with brass or aluminium, each carefully designed according to how musical scales are carried by the wind, and their resulting healing abilities, influencing on the emotional frequencies in the body.

While the proximity of the workshop has enabled Ofer to continue to create since October 7, he feels the effects of war very strongly in his neighbourhood. “Our business has also been affected,” he shared. “Fewer people are coming to the area.”

We hope you’ll support Jerusalem Chimes by bringing some of their healing beauty into your home this Hanukkah.
